Actual Book Titles
Have you walked into a bookstore lately? It seems the best seller lists are all populated with books whose titles follow a specific formula, which looks like this:
The + [‘Cultural’ Name or Place] + [Word Implying Cataclysmic Secret]
The textbook example is, of course, “The DaVinci Code” - and I can only assume that everyone is copying his book’s success. But seriously, do we really need:
- The Orpheus Deception
- The Machiavelli Covenant
- The Alexander Cipher
- The Venetian Judgment
- The Venetian Betrayal
- The Alexandria Link
- The Charlemagne Pursuit
I’d list more but I’m busy working on, uh, “The Augustine Signet.” Or something. Someone should totally create a random title generator on this principle. Unless someone already has, and all the major publishing houses are using it…
